Apprenticeship Role

This specialist protection role assesses fire safety in the built environment, including complex buildings, and recommends improvements to reduce fire risk to people, property and the environment. The role also involves investigations into fire safety complaints.

Working with a wide variety of partner agencies, fire safety inspectors provide advice and technical expertise, participate in consultation and enforce fire safety legislation via investigation and prosecution.

Methods of Assessment

End point assessment, completed after the training period, includes the following:
•    Practical assessment
•    Professional discussion underpinned by portfolio of evidence
•    Knowledge test


Progression

Those who complete this apprenticeship can progress to a Fire Safety Engineer (Degree) - Level 6 apprenticeship and apply for Institution of Fire Engineers membership.
